It’s been a looooooooong time coming, but work has begun on the new building. Demolition was completed, with the building being about 75% gutted. Work has begun on plumbing and mechanical systems. Some of the aesthetic decisions have been made, but more remain. This is a big project, but it’ll be worth it in the end. We’ll shut down the current Legion after a New Year’s Eve Party on Monday night, December 31st. Bands will entertain us the whole weekend...Friday, Saturday, and Monday Nights! Come on out and help us say goodbye to the current Legion. It served us well for 30+ years, but now it’s time to move on to a better facility. We don’t have an exact opening date, yet. The plan is to open sometime in January 2019. Obviously, the earlier, the better. Once we know more, we’ll share the info with you. Stay tuned.

Plans for the new Post are coming along great. It is a slow process, but plans are almost complete. Demolition and renovations will start soon. Unfortunately, construction permits will delay our opening. As of now, we are trying to have the new Post open sometime in December. We
already completed our first working party on Saturday, 08/25. Our next working party day will be Saturday, 09/08 from 9AM-noon. We are looking for any Legion Family members to come help get things done that need to happen prior to demolition. There is plenty of work we can
do. We will keep it a short day. Pizza and refreshments will be served afterwards.

Many people didn’t think we’d ever make it to this point, but the sale of the current Post and the purchase of the new Post are both final. As trying as that was at times, that was only a small part of our journey. We are not finished, yet. We are now working on renovating our new American Legion Post. If all goes according to plan, we should be moved into our new home within a few months. We can use volunteers to help us during this process. There is a lot of work to do. We are still waiting for the signing date to arrive. We are scheduled to sign paperwork to finalize the sale of the Legion Post on July 17th. That same day, we will finalize the purchase of the new Post building. We are in talks with contractors about renovating various parts of the new post. It is an exciting time for us. We are still waiting for the signing date to arrive. We are scheduled to sign paperwork to finalize the sale of the Legion Post on or about July 17th. That same day, we will finalize the purchase of the new Post building. The Post has received $50,000 of the non-refundable earnest money from the buyer. We are still waiting for our sale to be final. The signing date has been pushed back about 1 month. As we stand now, we will finalize both the sale of the Post and the purchase of the new building on or about June 29. We will host the State Convention in our current building in mid-July. We plan to move within 60 days after the convention. Any rumors you hear about the current owners of Kings Crossing being given more money by us are unequivocally false. There has never been a change in the original purchase price. Please help us in stopping the spread of false information.

There is nothing new to report. We are still looking forward to finalizing the sale of the current Post and the purchase of the new building by summer. Also, we are hosting the Department Convention in July and would move sometime after that to the new location.

We are still in a holding pattern. The sign company that owns the billboard above our building and the buyer of our building are working with the city to get approval to attach a sign to the hotel that will eventually be built on the site of the current Legion Post. There is still a contract for the buyer to purchase our current building. The purchase is set to be finalized on or about May 17. We still have a contract to purchase the King’s Crossing building and will finalize that purchase on the same day as the sale of the current Post. We know there are a lot of rumors being spread, but the Legion DID NOT give King’s Crossing an additional $50,000 (or any additional money). We still plan to move sometime after hosting the convention, but before the end of August.
